The Southeast Coast Tour is the most scenic half day tour which really complements the East tour.
On this half day tour we visit a couple of spectacular viewpoints along the southeast coast, as well as some enchanting villages and towns. This tour is offered on Friday afternoons and Sunday mornings. Starting off from Funchal, our first stop will be at the statue of Cristo Rei at Ponta do Garajau, which is similar to the statue in Rio de Janeiro in Barsil. Our next stop is the quaint little village of Santa Cruz. We continue our journey to the town of Machico, which is the oldest on the island as well as the second biggest. Heading off for the awesome views at Ponta de São Lourenço, we’ll pass by Caniçal, where they used to do whale fishing right up until the late 1970´s. Then we visit Santo da Serra and on the Sundays we spend some time at the Sunday Market, before making our way back to Funchal.
